Want to stop reacting to your ex?
✨ Find your bright spots
If you're trying to stop reacting to your ex, here's one simple thing you can do.
Go looking for your bright spots.
Remember that time when you handled a tough situation like a pro?
Or when you didn’t let someone's words get under your skin?
Yes, those moments. They’re not just random good days. They’re your success stories, and they’re golden.
Those are bright spots. 🌟
How to find your bright spots
🔍 Think back to times when you felt empowered, calm, and in control, impervious to your ex’s antics. What did you do differently? Did you take a walk? Call a friend? Journal? Whatever it was, it worked!
🎯 Find the patterns in your successful moments. Was it the support from friends? Your mindset? Your actions? These are your personal strategies for success.
💬 Sometimes, the best insights come from conversations. Chat with a friend or a coach about these moments. They can help you see things you might have missed and reinforce the positive strategies you used.
📝 Write down these successful tactics. Keep this list handy for when you need a reminder of the things that work for you.
🔄 Now that you know what works, do more of it! Facing a new challenge? Go back to your list. These are your proven tools in your arsenal against manipulation and stress.
Remember, it’s not about big, dramatic changes. Sometimes, it's the small steps that make the biggest difference. Every positive action you take is a 🧩 of the puzzle in building a stronger, more resilient, happier you.
Here’s an example of how this worked in my own life
It took me 3 months to launch this newsletter. I was overwhelmed, confused and all over the place trying to create it. Then I took a breath, and remembered similar experiences: creating my website, learning to use digital apps, and tracking my finances, for instance. In each of those cases, what made it work was watching video tutorials and following what they said.
So, I went back to square one, found the tutorials on the newsletter platform and “kaboom”, my newsletter was ready for launching in one week. Next time, I won’t waste weeks trying to work out a new digital tool by myself. I’ll go looking for tutorials right away when I start something new.
Did someone forward this to you?
Marie Forleo’s mom once told her, "Nothing in life is that complicated. You can do whatever you set your mind to if you roll up your sleeves. Everything is figureoutable." Marie took those last words and made them her mantra, and the title of her bestselling book, Everything Is Figureoutable.*
If you want to face your fears, fulfill your dreams, and find a better way forward, then you’ll want to read this book. Each section ends with an “Insight to Action Challenge” that pushes you to actually take action, kind of like those video tutorials that got me going with this newsletter. It’s fun and entertaining to read as well. This is a book that changed my life and it’s even part of the reason why you’re reading this newsletter today.
